Letters for Lost Lovers

Letter for Lost Lovers (2022) is a hugely ambitious short dramatic film set across 3 timelines with multiple characters and locations.

An intimate portrait of two lovers suffering from dementia and their fractured existence, set across three timelines and centred on the true, tragic love story of Héloïse d'Argenteuil and Abélard in 12th century France.

About the project

An upcoming project from production company New Leaf Pictures, currently still on the festival circuit. Filming in and around Leeds with a medium budget, this film has so far won 8 awards at the 2023 Independent Short Film Awards with a further 6 nominations for the upcoming IndieX Awards 2023, and a selection for the Carmarthern Bay Film Festival 2023. Included in these awards are 2 for Best Cinematography.

Being brought on only 2 weeks before production began, this was a big opportunity for me in a Gaffer role. Working directly with DP Stuart White was a major chance to learn during a fast paced and high level production. I also shot much the drone footage for the short, chasing our picture car through the country lanes around Temple Newsam.

Because the film is still on the festival circuit, images will only be added below when the project is released.

When available, a link to the short will be here and screen grabs will be below. In the meantime, check out its IMDB page.
